A brief and casual intro to my forthcoming album (AKA 3MAT)
Hi Gorjina!
Today i am incredibly honoured to be able to announce the release of my third record, EURO-COUNTRY, which will be arriving on the 29th of August 2025. It was recorded between September to December 2024 in Greenpoint in Brooklyn with my dear friend and long-suffering collaborator Oli Deakin.

- the gold vinyl is limited to 1500 copies only, via the CMAT shop
- Initial album orders come with a signed art card

While i have you, I’d like to give a little brief intro to the record, namely the title, and just explain how it all came to be.
Firstly I wanna talk about why i am releasing an album in 2025, because i think intent is just as important as the work itself. This is my third record in the space of less than four years, which, if you know how difficult it is to write and record an album, you know how fucking mental that is. I’m aware, and my poor friends and family who never see me are keenly aware.
I seriously considered a long break after ‘Crazymad, For Me’ to see if i could get some semblance of personal life back and maybe, i don’t know, somewhere to live? (All my shit has been in various storage units for over a year and a half now and i have been short-term-letting and spare-room-surfing since January 2024.)
Then last year, someone i loved passed away, and very soon after that someone else i loved was in an accident that can be classed as a near-death experience. The profound sense of urgency i developed as a result made me reevaluate the entire shape of life, knowing for sure now that I can never return to the past. All of the songs came very quickly over the early part of 2024, during touring, and EURO-COUNTRY happened.
The title, ‘EURO-COUNTRY’, is essentially dealing with the big 3 points i wanted to make with this record.
EURO-COUNTRY is the genre of music i make. I’ve struggled to lock that down before, and i wanted to make it clear what it is that I do, musically speaking.
EURO-COUNTRY is the type of loss, pain and lack of community that i feel we are suffering from under modern capital isolation. It feels like a very different flavour to everything i’ve read about happening in other historical times and i wanted to try and capture it, while i’m here.
EURO-COUNTRY is, of course, Ireland. The love of my life, the most toxic boyfriend i’ve ever had, the place which has changed so much that i feel sad every day i can’t return the version of it that is in my head.
The fact that i am in a position where people give me the money, time and resources to continue making records is never lost on me. I am grateful for it every single day from the moment i wake up in the morning to when I fall asleep. Sometimes I can even manage to recognise that the life i lead in my dreams is not as blessed as my reality. Anyone who has ever bought my records or comes to my shows is responsible for that and i just want to thank you deeply, deeply, and will continue to try and do that as much as i can.
I really can’t wait for you to all hear this record because i am so proud of it and so grateful i was allowed to make it.
Lots of love,
CMAT x x x

I am a grown man, with 40-odd years of indie skirmishes under my belt. Rarely have I seen an artist this talented, naturally funny and so in charge of her own shit (while also full of all the demons, too). From watching at The Troubadour in a crowd of 40-50 to losing my shit at the Forum and dancing with strangers at the Leadmill, it’s been such a thrilling ride to witness.
It is such a winning package, it is for this reason that on this day, I have splurged all my birthday pennies on a bundle of the new business.
I look forward to many happy supermarket trips with my CMAT euro. Gawd bless ya - you’ve made so many people so happy x
